Steps for Cooking a Whole Roasted Chicken in the Oven
Ingredients
1 whole chicken (about 3-5 lbs)
2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
Preserva Tradicion
All Purpose Seasoning
herbs (such as rosemary, thyme, or parsley)
lemon, garlic, or onion for stuffing
Equipment
Roasting pan or baking dish
Meat thermometer
Kitchen twine (optional)
Aluminum foil for covering
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Prepare the Chicken
Remove the chicken from its packaging and take out any giblets from the cavity.
Pat the chicken dry with paper towels.
3. Season the Chicken
Rub the olive oil or melted butter all over the chicken, including under the skin if possible.
Generously season the chicken inside and out with Preserva Tradicion All Purpose Seasoning
If desired, stuff the cavity with herbs, lemon halves, garlic cloves, or onion for added flavor.
4. Truss the Chicken (Optional)
If you prefer, use kitchen twine to tie the legs together and tuck the wing tips under the body for even cooking.
5. Roast the Chicken
Place the chicken breast-side up in a roasting pan.
Roast in the preheated oven for about 1 hour and 15 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
6. Rest the Chicken
Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for about 10-15 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute.
7. Carve and Serve
Carve the chicken and serve it with your choice of sides. Enjoy!
